Start Date: ASAP

About the role:

Our client, a global technology company, is looking for a Senior UX Designer to develop conversational, AI-powered shopping experiences across consumer applications and browser interfaces.

You’ll help people discover and engage with products through agentic AI, systems that can support users through multi-step shopping tasks. This is a hands-on design role, with a strong emphasis on conversational interaction, design craft and understanding commercial goals.

Working closely with a product manager, other UX designers, content designers, researchers and engineers, you’ll make interactions useful, understandable and trustworthy. You’ll design for systems that may produce different responses to the same input, considering a range of user needs and outcomes.

The team works across Europe and the US. Some flexibility in working hours will be required for international collaboration, including occasional additional hours paid at the standard hourly rate.

What you’ll do:

  • Design conversational shopping experiences across multiple digital platforms.
  • Develop concepts, user journeys, interaction flows, prototypes and detailed design specifications.
  • Explore how AI can help users discover products, compare options and make informed shopping decisions.
  • Design for variable AI responses, including uncertainty, unexpected outputs and recovery paths.
  • Partner with content designers on conversation structure, language and interaction patterns.
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers and other UX designers to develop and implement solutions.
  • Use user research, usability testing and product data to guide decisions and assess outcomes.
  • Present your work clearly, explain design choices and build agreement across teams.
  • Balance user needs, product quality and commercial objectives.

What you’ll bring:

  • At least five years’ experience in UX or product design.
  • Strong experience designing conversational interfaces and AI-powered products.
  • A portfolio demonstrating your design process, research, key decisions and outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Figma and experience creating interactive prototypes.
  • Practical experience using AI tools in design or prototyping, including AI-assisted coding tools.
  • An understanding of how to design for systems whose responses may vary.
  • Experience collaborating with content designers, product managers, researchers and engineers.
  • Confidence interpreting research and quantitative data to influence design decisions.
  • Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Curiosity about AI and a willingness to experiment, build prototypes and explore emerging tools independently.
  • Availability to start with no more than one month’s notice.

Experience in e-commerce, shopping or consumer AI products would be particularly relevant.

Portfolio requirements: Please include your portfolio with your application. Case studies should show how you used research and data, explored and tested ideas, made design decisions and evaluated outcomes. Examples involving conversational interfaces, AI-powered experiences or shopping journeys are particularly welcome.

Interview process: The process is expected to include two or three interviews and may include a portfolio presentation.
