Digital Programming Producer — Homepage Editor
Location: Old Street, London
On-site: Minimum 2 days per week
Shift patterns:

  • Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday
  • Typical shift: 6:00am – 2:00pm
  • Contract: ASAP – November 2026
  • Pay: £24.54/hour

Role Overview
The Digital Programming Producer curates and programs key digital platforms, including two website homepages and an app. This role requires sharp editorial judgment, speed, and creative content packaging to engage large, global audiences. You will work closely with U.S. and occasionally EMEA teams to deliver accurate, compelling, and timely news experiences across platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take handover from the U.S. programming team at the start of shift
  • Update and curate core digital surfaces with strong news judgment
  • Work closely with calendars, editors, and programmers to plan coverage
  • Organise and creatively package content using content library
  • Edit breaking news and collaborate with writers on stories and alerts
  • Write, edit, and send breaking news alerts
  • Monitor real-time audience data to optimise distribution and programming
  • Identify trends and audience needs across articles, video, and galleries
  • Contribute to post-mortems and strategic programming improvements
  • Support associate editors and occasionally act as shift lead
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and share insights and feedback
  • Program with awareness of “awake” audiences and upcoming audience peaks
  • Occasionally support EMEA time zones

Required Skills & Experience

  • Solid experience in digital news publishing
  • Excellent writing, editing, and fast decision-making skills
  • High level of attention to detail and communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
  • Experience using analytics tools (e.g. Chartbeat) and CMS platforms
  • Understanding of audience optimisation and digital storytelling
  • Strategic thinker with creative problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and occasional nights
  • 3+ years’ experience in digital media or news
