News Monitoring Coordinator – GLOBAL ICONIC MEDIA MARKETPLACE BRAND 
Location: London – office-based
Contract: Temporary assignment until January 2027
Pay rate: £200.52 per day PAYE
Hours: 40 hours per week
Working pattern: Shift-based, including some weekend coverage

The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a News Monitoring Coordinator to support the Global Communications team of a leading global technology organisation.
Working within the Rapid Response Team, you will monitor breaking news and media coverage, identify emerging stories and potential reputational risks, and ensure incoming press enquiries are quickly and accurately routed to the appropriate PR teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in media monitoring, journalism, public relations, corporate communications or press office support who has strong news judgement and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Media Monitoring

  • Monitor national and international news coverage across major media outlets
  • Conduct regular media sweeps throughout your shift
  • Identify stories relevant to the organisation and its different business areas
  • Flag important articles, emerging narratives and potential reputational risks
  • Assess the relevance, urgency and potential impact of developing stories
  • Provide PR teams with clear, concise and actionable coverage summaries
  • Track media trends and recurring themes
  • Support the preparation of coverage reports and trend analysis
  • Escalate urgent stories quickly when required
  • Provide monitoring coverage during business hours and support weekend shifts

Press Enquiry Management

  • Monitor incoming enquiries from journalists and media organisations
  • Assess the subject and urgency of each enquiry
  • Route enquiries to the appropriate internal PR contact
  • Maintain a target response time of approximately 30 minutes
  • Log enquiries accurately for tracking and reporting
  • Ensure correct routing across a wide range of business areas
  • Escalate sensitive, urgent or complex enquiries appropriately
  • Follow up on unclear requests to ensure they reach the correct team

Operational Support

  • Respond to information requests from internal communications and PR teams
  • Support operational requests within agreed service levels
  • Prepare detailed shift-handover notes
  • Assist with media coverage reports and team documentation
  • Maintain internal communications tools, resources and team pages
  • Keep process documents and knowledge resources up to date
  • Support monitoring subscriptions and internal systems
  • Attend regular team handovers, meetings and shift-sync sessions
  • Contribute ideas to improve team processes and workflow continuity
  • Support the wider team during busy or high-profile news cycles

Typical Working Day
The role follows a structured, shift-based schedule.

Your time will typically be divided between:

  • Monitoring news coverage and conducting media sweeps
  • Managing and routing incoming press enquiries
  • Completing reporting, documentation and operational support
  • Preparing handovers for colleagues working across different time zones

Media sweeps may take place approximately every 30 minutes. You will work independently during your shift while remaining closely connected to the wider global Rapid Response Team.

  • Confidence making quick and accurate decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to produce concise and actionable summaries
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Good judgement when handling sensitive information
  • The ability to remain calm and accurate during busy news cycles
  • A proactive, dependable and collaborative approach
  • Flexibility to work fixed shifts and provide occasional weekend coverage

Additional Information
