Diageo is known for their conscious efforts to pioneer a diverse and inclusive culture. Just a short few months ago, Diageo ranked fourth in Thomson Reuters Diversity and Inclusion index. Launched in 2016, the Thomson Reuters Diversity and Inclusion Index has ranked Diageo in the top 25 most diverse and inclusive companies for a third year in a row.

Yesterday afternoon, Diageo continued to concrete their standing through a network event held to unveil their new EVP:  ‘Character is Everything’. Diageo are focused on respecting the unique contribution each person brings. Their purpose is in itself, inclusive in nature, as it values everybody irrespective of background, religion, sexuality, or ethnicity.

The pillars to their EVP are:

  • Celebrate Life
  • Diversity at Core
  • Open up Your World
  • Your Best Gets Better
  • Create the Future
  • Be a Torch Bearer

Diageo are infusing diversity and inclusion into the company’s DNA, as a central principle to operate business. Within this movement, they are seeking to rewrite how companies adopt diversity and inclusion initiatives so that it is addressed as an integral part of the business’ key growth enablers in both values, purpose, and standards.

Diageo embraces diversity including gender, sexuality, ethnicity, experience, thinking styles and more through events that foster an inclusive and diverse work place. To realise its ambitions, and create a thriving business, Diageo depends on employing diverse talent with a range of skills, backgrounds, and capabilities throughout the 180 countries in which they operate.

“Diversity is a critical business imperative to grow our business. At Diageo we know we cannot succeed without the skills, talents and capabilities of our people. Simply put, our people are the main ingredient for our success.”

Ivan Menezes

“We firmly believe embracing diversity, including gender, sexuality, ethnicity, experience, skills and capabilities, is not only the right thing to do, but makes good business sense.”
