We work with some the most recognised PR agencies and in-house teams in the UK, recruiting for a variety of roles from Junior Account Executive upwards. Many of these junior roles require at least 6-12 months of solid experience, meaning it's not so much about the number of internships you complete, it's also about the quality.
Working within one amazing organisation, which is relevant to the industry you want to work in, will put you in a much stronger position when it comes to securing that all important full-time position.
We find that getting experience with an agency will allow you to work with a variety of people and clients, which can often give you a wider understanding of PR, from media relations, blogger outreach, creative campaigns and analysis. Before you start your placement, take a look at the job descriptions for the sort of jobs you'd like to apply for. Make a list of the skills and experience each role requires and make a plan for how you can build this knowledge throughout your internship.
There's lots of resources you can use when researching possible internships. You could start by looking at what agencies have won awards, or the PR Week top 150 - aim high!
