VMO - Senior Lead

Working for this innovative retail/tech brand, as the Vendor Management Office (VMO) Senior Manager, you will lead your team, work cross-functionally and with external vendors to help drive this brands growth whilst ensuring they remain commercially successful. This will be done by reviewing cost price increase requests to determine their fairness and merit, proactively proposing cost price reduction opportunities e.g. monitor commodity price movements, managing Supplier
Funding & Media (SFM) discounts, driving category management across the business, assisting category managers on supplier strategy and setting and driving the Learning & Development (L&D) agenda for the commercial teams. The Senior Manager will be responsible for interrogating cost price increasing and developing strategies to counter those increases.

You will have strong commercial acumen, keen negotiation skills and understand how to identify opportunities for saving the business money. You will be a strong people manager and will work closely with strategic partners across the business to continue to build the VMO as the business continues to grow. The VMO team will also work with learning & development to ensure a robust buyer training program.

Responsibilities:

● You will lead on reviewing cost price increase requests and analysing cost price reduction opportunities by actively monitoring market movements e.g. commodity pricing, currency etc. on all our existing and new ranges
● You will work with the Category teams in getting to know the vendors, ways of working with them and assist in supplier strategy
● You set a strategy for ensuring that the supplier media agreements fall within acceptable discounts and agreement as well as ensuring that auditing of this area on a regular basis
● You will drive the yearly category management process across the grocery commercial teams including ensuring the right insights, templates and outcomes
● You will collaborate with L&D to help build and execute Buyer training and On-boarding program, to ensure the Buying teams operate in a legal and consistent way
● You will ensure alignment across Strategic Partnerships, SFM and Pricing &
Promotions

To be considered you must have:

● Proven negotiating skills, influencing ability and previous vendor or supplier
management experience that have been gained in a fast growth tech/retail environment (or similar)
● You will have experience in negotiations, pricing, marketing and promotions,
inventory and margin management
● You will be experienced in business analysis and have expertise in excel, for
example be comfortable using V-Lookup and Pivot Tables etc
● Proven experience of taking ownership and driving results and be comfortable
influencing senior stakeholders through translating data into compelling stories
● Team management experience, where you have managed commercial and data
driven teams
● Whilst building and executing training isn’t essential, we expect you to have
knowledge of best practice and feel comfortable building a platform that our
teams will work to, ensuring we do things the right way. You will demonstrate the
ability to manage multiple projects at pace
