Technical Writer, API/Developer Documentation

Location: London

Length: 12 Months

Rate: £25.50 - £ 30.93 per hour

Hours: 9am – 6pm

Our client is seeking a talented technical writer who learns quickly and embraces technology to create online technical content to help our integration partners integrate with our APIs.

As a Technical Writer, you will:
  • Plan, research, write, publish, and maintain high-quality content for a developer audience.
  • Include code examples from the engineering team in docs and explain how they’re used.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other writers to identify documentation needs and use cases.
  • Manage complex documentation projects.
  • Build strong working relationships with subject matter experts, technical leads, and other stakeholders.
  • Be collocated with the product and engineering team building GPHR.
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience in English with 2+ years of documenting APIs or developer tools.
  • Proven resourcefulness, initiative, and adaptability.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to read code / machine readable markup (one or more of Java, Kotlin, Python, JSON)
  • Outstanding writing samples.
  • Experience using a CLI, authoring in markup languages, and managing files in source control.
  • Willingness to occasionally conference into meetings outside of local business hours to accommodate international teams.
  • Nice to have - Ability to code in one or more of Java, Kotlin, Python
This role will be the sole technical writer on the GPHR team and so our client is looking for somebody who is a self-starter, able to organise their own work and build relationships and collaborate with other team members to ensure the best documentation output for developers.
