Service Transition Manager
Location: Remote (Must be UK based)
Length: 4-6 months
Rate: £400 per day

Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Service Transition Manager to work with one of the leading tech companies for 4-6 months.

About the role…

The Service Transition Manager is a key role within the Service Introduction practise, providing a level of governance and assurance to operational activities ensuring all inputs, outputs and deliverables are being performed, recorded, tracked and monitored.
The role holder will support the successful transition of new or required series and major changes, providing assurance to the Service Transition lifecycle and its processes, inputs and outputs.

Part of the Service Introduction Function, they are responsible for ensuring that new and or changes services move into the live business environment as smoothly as possible. This vital step in the service lifecycle lies between ‘Design’ and ‘Operations’ and ensures that policies, processes and procedures are in place to protect the live operational environment.
This will also ensure that a new, modified, retiring or retired service fulfils its operational expectation and has no, or at the very worse, minimal adverse impact on customers, users and the business.


  • Contribute to the end to end Service Transition process and ensure that new and changed Services have a fully developed end to end support structure, including Processes, SLAs, KPIs, resources, support models, DR, business continuity and have completed knowledge transfer before going into the production Landscape 
  • Provide assurance and oversight over Service Transition operational activities
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness of the process through exemplar best practice
  • Contribute to Service Transition performance statistics
  • Coordinate inputs, outputs and deliverables throughout the Service Transition Lifecycle
  • Act as a point of contact that ensures effective transition into production in compliance with the Service Transition Process for all new/changed services  
  • Undertake effective stakeholder management with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that adequate documentation and support is available and ensures compliance with all IT Service Control Processes, encompassing Incident, Problem and Change Management in order to minimise the impact of major incidents and improve service quality to the highest levels expected by the stakeholders
  • Facilitate Early Life Support meetings ensuring operational issues are tracked and managed and operational performance is within expected tolerance prior to exiting Early Life Support
  • Record and track change requests, issues, risks and deviations including tracking progress on actions and mitigations of risks

Required Skills…

  • You will have Service transition or service integration experience (e.g. specifying service / support requirements, defining and implementing support models, managing and defining service acceptance criteria, managing Early Life Support period, defining / agreeing SLAs, etc)
  • Broadly skilled in information and communications technology.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work independently and take decisions where necessary within the scope of the role
  • Successful delivery against commitments and deadlines.
  • Takes ownership and follows through on decisions and actions.
  • Facilitates discussion and compromise to establish agreed decisions and actions.
