Safety Policy Manager, Africa, Middle East and Turkey (AMET)

Location: London

Length: 12 Months

Rate: £35.00 - £39.00 per hour (40 hours p/w)

Hours: 9am-6pm

Our clients Public Policy Team is looking for a Safety Policy Associate Manager to work in tandem with our policy, programs and communications teams for the AMET region in analyzing, responding to and strategically managing safety policy issues and programmatic responses in the region, as part of the company’s global safety policy and safety programs efforts. You will report to the Safety Policy Director, EMEA.

Successful candidates will have the skills and experience to identify and analyze safety policy risks and issues and develop and execute effective responses. Successful candidates should have a strong background and interest in online safety policy, the proven ability to evaluate the public and safety policy implications of our policies, products and features, a proficiency in presenting publicly to a variety of audiences, including policymakers, and the proven ability to build needed relationships with key advocacy groups, policymakers, academics, and researchers.

Candidates should be dedicated, detail oriented, creative, resourceful, analytical, and knowledgeable about technology policy issues, have excellent writing and presenting skills, and have experience in developing and executing high-profile technology, corporate and/or political campaign efforts.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with local policy and program teams to identify and analyze policy risks, trends, and issues in the AMET region and share learnings with all teams involved in policy mission in region and across the company, as you aid them in strategic planning, analyzing and responding to related legislative and regulatory initiatives, the development and implementation of safety related policy programs and the relationship with policymakers in coordination with local policy leads in the market.
  • Contribute to policy development and provide product feedback, so we can continue to keep users safe on our platform.
  • Provide feedback on the potential impact within the AMET region of our policies, products, and features, to ensure safety issues are appropriately considered in their development and communicate to policymakers and key safety stakeholders in the region.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and deepening of relationships with NGOs, academic experts and other stakeholders.
  • Work cross functionally and with comms, public policy, marketing, product policy, security ops, engineering and programs to elevate external knowledge and understanding of all the work being done to ensure the online safety of our community, with particular emphasis on developing safety programs events, and presentations needed by the public policy managers in their interactions with policymakers.
  • Work with the Safety Policy Director EMEA, to participate in selected major safety events and online safety related meetings with policymakers as needed to communicate the company’s efforts regarding youth and family online safety, as well as develop and reinforce the company’s reputation as a leader in online safety.
Requirements:
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree, or equivalent in policy, law, marketing, business, communications or a relevant subject or discipline required, advanced degree a plus.
  • At least 4 years of experience in policy issues, as well as an understanding of applicable regulatory and self-regulatory regimes needed.
  • Experience of working in the AMET region is preferred.
  • Experience with the Internet technology industry is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of company products, features, platform, and policies and operations for <18, as well as knowledge of the online safety landscape would be useful.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and writing skills, proactive work ethic, and strong interpersonal skills needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, think and move quickly, produce results under tight deadlines, juggle many different projects at once, find pragmatic and creative solutions to business issues, provide concise and business-focused advice, and make sound judgments.
  • Willingness to travel and to handle calls during different time zones.
