Programme Manager

Location: Edinburgh

Length: 5 Months

Rate:  £400 - £465 per day

Hours: 9am – 6pm

The role our clients Programme Lead is a critical one and will have accountability for the overall programme plan for events and activations in the lead up to and during COP 26. 

This role will help to knit together a highly cross functional team, ensuring that we have clarity of objectives and outcomes, that our programme plan includes clear accountabilities, milestones and timelines to ensure that our engagement is delivered to a high standard and that our seniors are well briefed and set up for success. 
 
This is a fixed term contract role from July through to December 2021 that will oversee planning and pre-engagement in the lead up to the event as well as running the company’s activation in Scotland in November and ensuring a strong legacy for 2022 and beyond.

The focus of this role is to:
  • Develop and own the overall programme management plan for the company’s COP 26 activation from July through to November.
  • Ensure workstreams are set up for success with clear timelines and accountabilities.
  • Develop process for workstreams to come together to share update, flag issues for resolution and manage interdependencies.
  • Play a leading role in coordinating events, communications, activations in the lead up to COP 26 working with teams representing the company and our consumer brands as needed.
  • Lead on coordination of events on the ground in Glasgow, Edinburgh and various sites across Scotland.
  • Lead on briefing for Exec members and other senior leaders to ensure they are aware of outcomes of COP 26 programme; understand the detailed logistics and objectives of events they are attending and are set up for success.
  • On the ground resource to trouble shoot issues during COP 26 itself
  • Lead on consolidation of opportunities for follow up during COP 26, ensuring clear accountabilities for follow up meetings, conversations etc. to secure a strong legacy for the company’s COP 26 activation.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering complex programme of activities (e.g., corporate delegations to high profile events such as WEF Davos)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot linkages between workstreams and manage interdependences.
  • Exceptional project management expertise with ability to craft detailed plans.
  • Strong communication skills – able to communicate detailed plans (e.g., for events) and to craft high level messages and briefing document for senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work across teams.
  • Able to work at pace and to flex and change course to respond to changing circumstances.
To be successful in this role:
  • Inability to think/act creatively and proactively - determining the best approach to meet external stakeholder needs within the context of the company’s strategy, structures, and ways of working.
  • Inability to collaborate with external partners – identify areas of mutual interest and crafting strategies that can be jointly implemented.
  • Inability to think a project through to completion, anticipating barriers and pitfalls, and formulating ways to overcome these for success.
  • Preferred location Scotland (Edinburgh area) with ability to travel to Glasgow and to make several trips to London.
