Marketing & Communications Manager - Public Affairs

Global household brand are seeking an experienced Marketing and Communications Manager to join their high profile Public Affairs division. This is a business critical role that encompasses the full marketing and communications mix. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the work that this brand does makes an impact. Specifically, you will help develop and deliver a coherent and effective external marketing strategy and plan for Public Affairs which raises the profile of the wide range of work they do – this includes political polling, their huge variety of other social research and evaluation on public policy from immigration to health, from education to employment, from transport to sustainable development, and their large and growing international research.
You will also play a key role in internal communications ensuring that employees are kept informed about industry and policy sector developments and are aware of the innovative and important work being undertaken by colleagues.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Working with the Public Affairs MD on marketing planning and budgeting
Project manage a multi-channel plan which encompasses activity to drive growth in all areas of the specialism
Drive and manage the division’s events programme which includes partnership events, as well as party conferences
Oversee the production of the department’s thought leadership publication. This includes project managing the production schedule and assisting with the copy editing, proofreading and distribution of the publication
Drive the PR agenda within the Public Affairs specialism, working closely with the Media Relations Director to pro-actively identify new opportunities to engage the national and sector media and to regularly deliver a high standard of external thought leadership
To be considered you must have:
Marketing communications experience, preferably with public policy or public sector marketing experience.
Proven track record in delivering a high-level thought leadership agenda.
Sound understanding of marketing, ideally within a large and complex organisation.
Strategic thinker with the ability to take all aspects of a project through from concept to completion with the ability to influence and implement programmes quickly and efficiently.
Ability to foster creative and innovative marketing strategies in line with business objectives.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to persuasively build and articulate compelling arguments within a matrix environment.
A creative problem solver with a ‘hands-on’ approach to providing and implementing marketing solutions to drive business success.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong copy-writing experience.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and determine needed steps for complex projects.
