The 3D Generalist / Motion Designer is responsible for exploring, creating art pipelines, and building assets that help teams execute designs that will define the future of immersive experiences. Our creative teams, spread across several locations, are focused on creating content that invites users to engage in immersive, real-time experiences. Job Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with the engineering and design teams to prototype and develop 2D/3D static and animated content in an innovative framework and provide feedback to the tooling.
- Asset optimization — topology reduction, draw call reduction, texture baking, etc.
- Work closely with engineers and technical artists to implement interactive objects and systems.
- Review and prioritize work across multiple projects.
- Responsible for outlining asset authoring guidelines, processes and pipelines as needed.
- Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads.
- Collaborate and iterate based on the team’s needs.
- Develop broad technical expertise to assist in various technical and artistic tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as a 3D generalist, motion designer and/or illustrator at a creative agency, game or film industry.
- A link to an online portfolio showcasing relevant work (include a link on your resume) that exhibits conceptual ability and experience working in various styles, compositions, colour, and designs.
- Generalist knowledge in skills such as modelling, texturing, lighting, animation, physics and particle systems
- Strong artistic and aesthetic sensibilities.
- Knowledge of 3D modelling and asset creation packages like Maya, Blender, Substance Painter/Designer, Photoshop, etc.
- Experience with one or more commercial game engines (e.g. Unity, Unreal, Meta Spark)
- Experience communicating in a multi-disciplinary team, including engineers, artists, and designers
- Able to locate and resolve content and asset performance bottlenecks through performance profiling and optimization
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex visual concepts clearly.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Task-driven, self-motivated, proactive & works well under deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional content development experience
- Prior virtual/augmented reality experience
- Shader development experience
- Knowledge of emerging technologies
- Experience creating concept art and inspirational visuals
- Experience working with version control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.)
- Experience working in a variety of graphic styles
- Experience working with outsourced vendors.
