Last week Career Moves hosted an exclusive HR Directors lunch seminar, and welcomed Elisa Nardi, former Chief People Officer at Virgin Media as keynote speaker.
The lunch was a resounding success as over 50 HR leaders attended from organisations such as Virgin Media, WPP, ASOS and Visual DNA.
One of the key messages of the day was that HR Directors needed to approach the board with a renewed commercial and analytical focus, reinforcing to those present that their insights can be of real value to the board, since they have access to cross-organisational data and analytics.
The seminar was split into two sections; the first half outlining the roles HR can have on boards; with the second part highlighting the key character and intelligence traits needed in order to positively interact with the board.
The event came at a time when, according to the latest PwC Global CEO Survey, 93% of Global CEOs recognise the need to change their strategies for attracting and retaining talent, but are not doing so, with a major concern being that HR may require more commercial knowledge to influence key talent management decisions at Board Level.
“The objective of the seminar was to arm our HR client base with actionable knowledge, in order to fulfill their HR agendas”, said Caroline Foote, Founder and MD of Career Moves Group.
“We’ve worked with many of the attendees in both client and candidate capacities for many years. As a recruitment consultancy, to continue to be of value and stay relevant for our clients, we need to look ahead to where they’re going to be in the next three to five years, and offer events that will assist their progression, while arming ourselves with practical commercial insight from highly regarded executives like Elisa”.
