Yesterday El, Rich, Steve, Amy, and Billy (pictured above, with the LALU fundraising team) took part in the British 10km as part of LALU’s (Leukaemia & Lymphoma Unit at UCLH) running team.
With a collective running time of 1 hour 7 minutes, both Eleanor and Rich had the joint-fastest running time on the day of 1 hour 1 minute and 58 seconds. The “Speedy Runners,” team have so far raised a total of £525 for LALU.
LALU is currently raising funds for complementary therapies that will be available to haematology patients and families at their new cancer centre on Huntley Street and on the wards at UCH.
Such therapy can really lift the spirits of leukaemia and lymphoma sufferers. One patient in day-care said,
“Whilst I was having reflexology I actually felt well. It was the only time I have felt like that since the moment I first got my diagnosis and it was such an enjoyable feeling”.
LALU is also gearing up to fund phase 4 of their young adults unit for patients 19+, with facilities for a future day room and relaxation area.
With so many positive initiatives being developed by LALU for patients, Career Moves Group and others supporting the charity are trying to raise as much money as possible this year.
Caroline Foote, Managing Director, Career Moves Group said,
“I’m extremely proud of my colleagues who ran yesterday. The money they have raised is going towards an excellent cause and it is inspiring to know that such facilities will be available for the families and carers of leukaemia and lymphoma sufferers.”
