Meet the Panel: Alex Serruys

In just a few weeks we are presenting the 2017 Career Moves Office Support Essential Skills Workshop: Workplace Communication Tools for Today’s Assistant.

Career Moves Office Support will be hosting a working breakfast at the Hoxton Holborn on Thursday October 12th, which is aimed at Assistants looking to take their skills to the next level.

As part of this event we are hosting a panel with some brilliant people. Today we introduce our second panel member; Alex Serruys

Starting her career as a PA in the music industry working with a world-class music artist. It was here that Alex discovered her flair for complex organisation and living life in the fast lane, becoming accustomed to working 24/7. Further down the line she found herself PA to the CEO of the British Fashion Council and most recently, PA to three CEO’s at the SEEN Group.

Alex is a dedicated and passionate professional who has worked alongside and managed the lives of some of the most inspirational and influential women in London in both a business and personal capacity. She has been at the forefront of some of London’s largest events including London Fashion Week, London Fashion Week Men’s and the British Fashion Awards, three of the largest events in the global fashion calendar.

Working in environments with a focus on retail design, influencer and brand strategy and events, Alex has recently used her knowledge to become an influencer within the PA world, championing the industry in a creative and exciting way. Working with well-known brands through Instagram and social media and being one of the leading editors in The Assistant Room team. Alex is passionate about taking the idea of the PA to the next level, showcasing the influence and value that she can bring on behalf of the industry.

Where: The Hoxton Holborn, 199-206 High Holborn, London WC1V 7BD

2 interactive workshops delivered by Founders of PA Access All Areas: Merryl Futerman (Celebrity PA & Director at PA Access All Areas and PA Insiders) and Josephine Green (Celebrity PA / Co-Director at PA Access All Areas). They will be exploring: how to support powerful people; setting boundaries; and effective ways to interact with senior stakeholders; as well as an additional session that will cover: networking to include building internal networks, cultivating contacts and making the most out of networking events.

We will also be joined by 2 representatives from Slack - the fastest growing office application in history who will be presenting the benefits of their app in the workplace. They are going to be sharing a live demonstration showing some useful insights into the practical uses of the application and how this can be used to make Assistants working lives simpler and more productive. Through a “day in the life” of an EA using the tool they will demonstrate how it can be used to build communities, share best practice, effectively manage projects, and integrate systems including multiple diaries, project technologies amongst others.

And, finally, a Q&A panel with an amazing line up of Assistants who we will continue to introduce over the coming weeks. They will be discussing emotional intelligence within the workplace, and through open discussion will be offering insights and experience of how to be mindful of their Execs and their team’s emotions. All of this will be hosted at the Hoxton Holborn with breakfast included and training materials, and hopefully some new contacts, to take away. Assistants attending the event will head back to the office that afternoon ready to implement the advanced communication and networking techniques developed throughout the morning.
