Fifteen students have been selected for the 2015/16 programme, which begins this months, and is designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge to excel within the workplace. Throughout the year students will be able to attend monthly skills workshops, have access to one-to-one mentors and participate in a 4-6 week paid internship. Previous internships have included Citigroup, Halifax and Fundsmith.
The monthly workshops and mentoring are led by Sheryll Karpel at Career Moves Group along with other members of staff from across the business. They will focus on a range of key skills required by employers including interview techniques, perfecting their CV and workplace etiquette.
Sheryll said, “The young people that we work with are incredible. We’ve partnered with Queen’s Park Community School for several years and each cohort of students brings something different to the table – I’m really looking forward to seeing what this year’s students bring.”
Jayne Llewelyn at Queen’s Park Community School, said, “The Career Ready programme is a fantastic opportunity for our students. It gives students who are often from families with little background of higher education, the confidence, skills and networks to achieve their potential.
“Career Moves Group has supported our students over a number of years. The experience, dedication and enthusiasm that their employees bring to the programme has ensured students are always fully prepared to embrace every opportunity they are given.”
Career Ready is a UK charity which works with schools and workplaces to offer 16-19 year olds masterclasses, mentoring and internships.
