A fast-moving Production company who operate on the cutting edge of the media industry are looking to bring on board an experienced Financial Controller to oversee and guide their expanding finance function.
The role involves full financial Control of all aspects of the business and day-to-day management of 3 staff.
The Financial Controller will also be responsible for developing financial systems and processes to enable the continued growth and expansion of the team.
Duties will include the following:
General:
•Implementing systems and procedures to ensure maximum productivity
•Regular review of all internal procedures to ensure that Finance team is
•operating in line with company growth and requirements
•Overseeing Sales Ledger & Purchase ledger functions
•Completing VAT returns
•Balance sheet reconciliation
•Cash flow forecasting and financial modelling
•Ad hoc management reporting as required
•Overseeing credit control of outstanding accounts and aged debt
•Chasing up PO Numbers as required
•Reviewing expenses claims and petty cash.
Month end/Year end:
•Preparing year end financial and statutory accounts for the business under UK GAAP for external accountants.
•Overseeing the preparation of financial reports, budgets, cost reports, forecasts and other management information
•Managing and coordinating the month end process
•Preparation of month end journals including petty cash, expenses, salaries, depreciation, prepayments, accruals, sales and stock entries
•Preparation of monthly reporting pack for directors.
Payroll:
•Overseeing a large and diverse payroll function and managing one member of staff
•Dealing with permanent, temporary & freelance payroll processing (weekly/monthly)
•Resolving any payroll queries which need to be escalated
•Keeping up to date with current legislation on workers rights
•Advising key management staff on payroll issues.
Management of Staff:
•Day-to-day management of 1 direct reports
•Start-to-finish Recruitment for the finance team
•Actioning staff appraisals and performance management
•Managing annual leave and associated procedures.
Projects:
•Providing Financial insight and budgetary advice to PM’s on both active & upcoming projects
•Tracking all active projects and associated budgets using Excel
•Attending regular project meetings to discuss budgets, invoicing & other financial issues.
Key Competencies:
•Strong understanding of accounting principles & experience in Financial Control – Essential
•Experience of managing a small but busy Finance team- Essential
•Great academic background (ideally degree level education and ACCA/CIMA Qualified or equivalent) – Highly Advantageous
•The ability to think commercially and strategically – Desirable
•Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate Financial information clearly & concisely to non-financial staff – Essential
•Strong IT skills including advanced Excel – Required
•Experience of implementing processes, workflows and financial systems – Essential
•Very strong financial reporting skills – Necessary
•Experience of working within a TV Production or Broadcast environment – Desirable.

Package: £50-£60k (dependent on Experience)
