Our client is a major broadcaster, attracting well over 20 million viewers per month. Their portfolio encompasses many distinctive channel brands, offering high quality programming, which spans the lifestyle and entertainment genre.

They are now looking for a Commissioning Editor, for a fixed term contract of six months. This is a senior role, which will be instrumental to the success of the venture. The successful candidate will work closely with the Heads of Department to commission programming and multiplatform content across the entire channel portfolio. (S)he will also shape and drive overall commissioning strategy.

This role will interface with Marketing, Finance, Press and Compliance teams and may include deputising for the departmental head and will include mentoring responsibilities. On occasions, the successful candidate will also be expected to represent the company on a number of public forums.

The key areas of responsibility for this role will include the communication of editorial objectives to all relevant production teams, to guide and direct the development process and take full financial control of all projects.

The successful candidate will have a proven record of delivering high quality entertainment programming, and will possess a strong understanding of commissioning strategy, with the skills and critical vision to deliver across a portfolio of channels, retaining a distinct brand identity. Ability to demonstrate an agile cross media, multi-platform perspective is highly desired.

Furthermore, (s)he will be ready to utilise their range of key contacts and identify and nurture new talent, whilst demonstrating the necessary depth of experience to manage the full range of attendant legal, compliance, budgetary and co-production issues.
