Work inspiration

career moves group has had an active role from inception on Business in the Community’s Work Inspiration Campaign.

It isn’t enough that we prepare young people for the media world, there needs to be a way for more young people to get an insight into the industry and be inspired to pursue a career in our sector.

The campaign seeks to transform often mundane work experience into an inspirational event which opens their eyes to the rewards of working in the media world. This is done via a simple set of insights we helped to develop and a free, easy to implement toolkit.

Working with, amongst others - ITV, BBC, BITC, Chime Communications and Leo Burnett - we set ourselves a target of getting 70,000 work inspiration placements in 2010.

A launch party was held at ITV studios where our Director, Sheryll Karpel, gave an impassioned speech alongside the likes of Adam Crozier, Lucy Adams and Chris Satterthwaite to leaders from all over the media industry. This led to over 90 more companies pledging their support of the initiative.

We aren’t resting on our laurels. In 2011 we aim to increase that number to 200,000 and build upon the gathering momentum.
